Who loves recovery as much as I do?? 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ I take recovery days seriously - whether it is soft pedaling for 1-1.5 hours, core strength, focusing on weak muscle groups, extra napping, or jumping into a river for an “ice bath.” I also find recovery in my diet - lots of color on the plate. 🚨life/deadlift update🚨 2 things that clearly go together😂 So for the past 4 weeks I’ve been eating in a calorie deficit in an attempt to get my body fat percentage down to the lowest it’s ever been. No specific reason or competition in mind, truthfully I just wanted to test myself mentally and physically to see what I’m capable of achieving. This is another story for another day though as I will be talking about this more in depth over the coming weeks. The reason I brought this up now however is because it’s a lesson around setting goals and choosing what’s important to you. With me being in a calorie deficit I’m pretty much accepting that my main lifts won’t be as optimal as usual due to the decrease in calories and essentially not fuelling for that purpose. However that’s not to say that you can’t hold on to strength because as you can see from the video above I got a 150kg deadlift(last video was 140kg) quite comfortably. So long story short I’m not hitting the numbers I would like to but for the time being I’m content with that because strength isn’t my goal at this moment in time. Some leg day fun for you! These are part of my training plan from @stephdorworth and @eltmethod. I’ve been lifting weights for YEARS, but was looking for something to give me an extra push and this training has been exactly what I needed! - 💪🏼Deadlifts - I hit a new PR here, 175 pounds for three sets of 6. You can see the pain in my face 🙈 💪🏼 Step-ups with weight in one arm - 3 sets of 10 per leg. You can do this with a cable machine as seen here or with a dumbbell. 💪🏼 Stiff-legged DB deadlift - I did these immediately following the previous workout, for a super set. 3 sets of 10. 💪🏼 Bench Step-overs - these are new to me and I don’t know what took me so long to try them! You’ll definitely feel the burn 🔥🔥. 2 sets of 20 per leg. Some stretches just feel sooo good! My back is feeling stiff from just stress and I think I may have slept a little funny, and then did some chest flies today and this stretch felt AMAZING! The deck of cards workout is simple. Each suit is assigned to an exercise—e.g., diamonds equals Push-Ups. Bodyweight moves are preferred because you move quickly between exercises. Draw a card and perform the designated exercise for the number reps indicated on the card, 2 through 10. For the face cards, Jack = 11 reps, Queen = 12 reps, King = 13 reps, and Ace = 14 reps. Always a favourite and always a tough workout. Can be done solo or in partners/groups depending on time available and length/intensity of workout your looking for. Happy Tuesday, fitfam! Locate me a more aesthetically pleasing dessert, I dare you 😏 @dominiqueansel 🍩 Yesterday I did a great circuit at the gym that I wanted to share with you guys! Perform each circuit 3x with no rest. Rest between circuits (as needed): 💠Circuit 1 1️⃣ Back squat 10x 2️⃣ Alternating split squat 10x each leg 3️⃣ Push ups 10x 4️⃣ Jumping jacks & squat jacks 10x each 💠Circuit 2 1️⃣ Box squat 10x 2️⃣ Alternating resistance band rows 15x each 3️⃣ Tricep dips 10x 4️⃣ Push ups 10x 💠 Circuit 3 - I literally just did every machine in the circuit circle at my gym, 3x no rest (the exercises were overhead press, chest press, preacher curl, lat pull down, leg press, quad extension, hamstring curl, chair dips) 💠 Abs (people’s choice, 5-10 minutes) ➡️ Who will try this workout? FULL BODY circuit work!💥 - This is a great circuit for when you want to run and get in some cardio, but don’t want to strictly be on a cardio machine the whole time. - 4 rounds: •8 kettlebell Clean & Press (each side) •8 Burpees •15 Kettlebell swings •5 minute treadmill run - choose a speed where you are able to run for 5 minutes at steady pace. And remember this is a run.. NOT a sprint!!
