SQUATS!!! My focus has always been strength!! (apart from last year when I was growing my lil girly🤰🏼).. but before pregnancy and now my mind is always on increasing the numbers!! ⬆️ I want by body to be the strongest it can be not just physically but mentally too! I always lift the heaviest my body is capable of lifting and progress by increasing! Since having my daughter I had struggled with back squats as my hips & pelvis didn’t feel the same post baby! so I avoided them as back loading just didn’t feel right!!! All I did was front squats,I then realised avoiding they wasn’t getting my any closer to my goals! I started light and got my nervous system used to back squats again! & on Saturday squatted the heavier end of pre pregnancy 90k ....100k I’m defo on my way! 💯 take your time to familiarise yourself with your postpartum body, if you’ve done it before you will do it again! I promise! I had so many negative comments saying my body wouldn’t be the same after having a baby! They were right! It’s better, it’s stronger, and I grew a Human! So, I hurt my back on Friday(again🙄) and missed my long run this weekend. I tried 2 times and just couldn’t do it. Training Update 📈💪🏻 Amazing work by Nick Hurst, getting in the zone leading up to his family holiday. Very proud to say that since April he has lost 8.3kg! I created a plan for meal ideas beneficial to Nick, especially lower in calorie BUT realistic breakfast options. Other than that Nick is very consistent with his training and his 1-1 sessions but our goal of getting into the ‘85s’ (kgs) was a big driver to him. This is also the first time since he started training with me that he had achieved the 85kg mark. Some shots below of our last session before his break. Have a great time Nick. Well deserved.

MOVEMENT MONDAY - I am starting a weekly post teaching people about exercises and their progressions so that they can work towards finally getting their goal of that movement. This first post is about the push-up and although to a lot of people this may seem like a simple movement, to others it can be very difficult. - In this post I will show correct form and technique, as too often you see people performing 'half reps' or with poor technique and it isn't doing anyone any good. - 1. The kneeling push-up: This is the first progression for working towards a push-up. By performing this on your knees it takes away the difficulty of placing a lot of effort on your core and also decreases the distance of the lever you're acting on. 2. The Normal push-up: Obviously once you are strong enough to move from the first movement you can begin working in this one. As you have now placed the weight at your feet, the lever of the movement is a lot further away increasing the strain on the core and difficulty of the movement. This can be done in different variations such as clapping, wide hands, close (diamond) hands, incline or decline. 3. Diamond push-up: This is essentially a push-up with the hands placed closer to eachother in a 'diamond' shape. As the hands are closer together the tension is put onto the triceps more so than the chest making the movement so much harder as the triceps are a smaller muscle compared to the pectoral. - Obviously these movements can be made even more difficult by adding weight or changing the angle at which you perform them, but this is just an insight into how each movement can progress you further. Um dos trabalhos publicados no XVII CONGRESSO DE CIÊNCIAS DO DESPORTO E EDUCAÇÃO FÍSICA DOS PAÍSES DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA, foi responsável por abordar este tema. . Trata-se de uma pesquisa muito relevante, levando em conta que temos uma estimativa de ter 32 milhões de idoso em 2025. Ou seja 13% da população brasileira. . O estudo então realizado por (Reis, et al), no estado de Minas Gerais, selecionou 14 artigos publicados em português de 2010 a 2016, feitos com a população com idade mínima de 60 anos, e obteve as seguintes conclusões. . 3 estudos identificaram a diminuição da pressão arterial, e um efeito positivo na força muscular respiratória. 4 outros estudos indicaram que o exercício aumentou a capacidade funcional e melhorou a execução de tarefas motoras, atenuando o declínio das capacidades funcionais decorrentes do envelhecimento. Outeos estudos identificaram melhora na força, agilidade, resistência aeróbica e prevenção da sarcopenia, e 1 estudo relacionou o tempo despendido em exercícios gera maior proteção ao organismo a processos incapacitantes. . Mais pesquisas precisam ser feitas sobre o tema.
