How do you relieve stress? || Nutrition Topic Tuesday – Stress plays a HUGE role in overall health. It impacts how our body stores fat, what kinds of foods we crave, and is a major contributor to chronic diseases. – Although exercise has great benefits for individuals with depression/ anxiety, can make you “feel good” from the release of endorphins, and sometimes contributes to a reduction of stress, it should not be your main or only stress reliever. – Exercise (especially high intensity exercise) is a form of stress on the body, so when it is piled on top of stress from lack of sleep, improper nutrition, sickness, injury, work stress, financial stress, etc. it can have negative effects on overall health. – Although intense exercise can make you feel good in the moment or immediately after, it may actually be taking a toll on an already stressed out system. – Additionally, turning to exercise every day to “run away from you problems” can drain your body rather than restore it. – Practice different stress relievers such as journaling, meditation, yoga, walking, coloring, mindfulness exercises, etc. to help reduce stress levels. – Keep using exercise as a tool to practice proper movement, challenge yourself, and keep your body healthy!

Plus before my training sessions I make sure for at least 15 minutes I am working on mobility/ corrective exercises depending on what I am working out that day or dependent on what needs to be worked on, either way I make it part of my DAILY ROUTINE . 2. I also try do most of the mobility movements I have programmed individually for each client with the client. Whatever I have programmed for a client I make sure I do even if it’s just for demonstration purposes and also just for my daily accountability and this way I get to do a set of different movements every single day . 3. Stress and anxiety can come from so many different things. Whether your stress is psychological or physiological, it can impact your workout. Believe it or not, everything from sleep to muscle fatigue to your sympathetic nervous system will play into your progress and success in a given workout and/or your progress long term. Understanding this is a big step in the right direction towards success in physical achievement. If your heart rate and blood pressure are already a bit elevated before even starting a workout, it’s time to check in with your stress and anxiety level to learn to control it. Controlling this can make the difference between being average and being elite or skilled. Next time you step into the gym and prepare for your workout, take some time to warm up correctly to prepare your body to accomplish the task at hand.
