In Kinstretch/FRC we always say the intensity of the irradiation ( core, breathing & internal tension ) must be greater than that of the moving part ...but the quality of that irradiation and core is of paramount importance. . Without quality stability you will never escape that chronic hip, shoulder and even neck tension. . As a DNS practitioner (dynamic neuromuscular stabilization ) no one does core like DNS. DNS is optimal human movement. Natural law. And it is the lens by which I assess all movement. . We need to gain control of this passive range to make it useful. Hip Internal rotation mobilitymonday For those that may not yet have the available ROM for the Hip 90/90 position, or perhaps they are uncomfortable in that position. This is a nice position to regress, in order to build that ROM. The aim is to ensure pure hip rotation (around the axis of the femur). So as mobility improves, the angle of the stick (and Tibia) will change to improve hip IR. I love the bear crawl! Not the ones that some people do where they are essentially running on all fours, but the type of bear crawl that is nice and slow and controlled. Clear and articulate movement. ⁣ 🔻⁣ Here’s the why. It’s a fundamental human movement pattern. This is one of the critical movements that infants need to master before the have the stability to walk, which is a more complex contralateral movement pattern.⁣ 🔻⁣ Here’s the when. I’ve been coaching deadlifts for a very long time. And there’s been more then a few athletes that can’t seem to figure out how to organize their spine regardless of how many coaching cues are thrown their way. Crawling is the next regression. As I said before, it’s a fundamental human movement pattern so it’s hardwired into our nervous system. ⁣ 🔻⁣ The why of the band. If they’re adapting well to the crawl and the have issues with a valgus or inward collapse of the knees while they’re lifting, add the band in with their bear crawls as part of the warm up. Sensory input leads to motor output. ⁣ 🔻⁣ Bonus. This is a good one for runners who are having rotational control issues that is causing either back or hip pain. 🎄🎶Do you see what I see?🎶🎄 Part of Karen's missing mobility area is primarily on her right side in her hip and ankle. She has good passive knee joint movement, but active ROM for tibial internal rotation is a different story. - A major prerequisite for a goblet squat or front squat position to be executed well is the need for solid ankle dorsiflexion because the position requires a more upright torso to redistribute weight appropriately over the center of your body. - Although it appears in the picture that her form looks great, there are indeed a number of compensations. However, I will say she has improved this position in leaps and bounds. More so in the past month with a solid daily CARs routine to address ROM deficits. Improve the work space, improve the movement. - For good dorsiflexion in squatting positions, lunging, etc, not only do you need adequate lower limb muscle length (everyone is all "stretch your calves, stretch your calves"), but the hip, knee, and ankle joint all need to be mobile in a stable manner. They need to play nice and do their separate jobs to work well together. - The thigh needs to be able to abduct in the hip socket, the thigh also needs to be able to externally rotate in the hip socket, with the tibia (shin bone) internally rotating at the same time at the knee joint formed by the thigh bone and shin bone, and your ankle inverters AND everters need to activate enough to keep that foot flat and stable. Not rolled into inversion on the lateral border. A rolled ankle is not a stable platform, obviously. If those joint movements occur at the same time, then the shin can properly drive forward into stable dorsiflexion towards your toes. Healthy and flexible hips means strength at all ranges. As athletes we override our pain, because “no pain- no gain,” right? As coaches, we need to help our skaters understand the difference between “good” and “bad” pain. . . . Remember, impressive flexibility is commonly paired with some kind of instability, especially in young skaters. Don’t be fooled! Just because your skater can fold in half doesn’t mean they own that movement. Control over range creates strong capable skaters. . . This drill works internal and external rotation of the hips. Think of broken leg spins, pancakes, spread eagles, y-spins, Ina Bauers, hydroblades... crossovers! By creating load over one side while shifting weight mimics the movement of skating. SNOWBILITY ❄ . Quick, easy, efficient, specific.. . Mobilising and moving our bodies prior to exercise qnd physical acticity is pretty important.. it usually leads to better performance, reduced risk of injury and more freedom to move!! . The combination of taking the joint through a full range of motion and putting load through a range of motion which is probably going to be hammered is always a good idea . For me, i want my body working as efficiently as possible so i can get the most out of everytbing . Snowboarding puts tremendous amout of force on my knees and hips so a few minutes to mobilise and access myself prior to hitting the slopes (inside or out) is at the top of my list . Standing Hip CARs, inside squats, cossaks - simples . I also intermittently did thoracic and neck cars on the button lift up 🤣🤣 yeah im that guy . Do you use isometrics in your training?⁣ ⁣ 💥Firstly, muscles contract in different ways, they shorten, lengthen and stay the same length (isometric). One of the main benefits of isometric training is that the body is able to activate nearly all the available motor units, something that is usually very difficult to do.⁣ ⁣ 👉🏼If you think of other exercises that aren’t isometric such as a bench press you only spend a second or two at specific joint angles. In contrast, in an isometric contraction, you can spend much longer in maybe weaker area’s which can help overcome the weaker area’s.⁣ ⁣ 🦿Joint angles are particularly important in many sports. Think of it as being able to broaden the spectrum of being stronger in the many of the ranges that a joint possesses.
