Warning! Graphic photos! Listen to video first. Feeling incredibly blessed after having a terrible bike accident on Sunday! Things could have been really tragic and instead have turned out wonderfully (given the circumstances). I'm now learning to receive more love and support and lean into the discomfort of just doing nothing while my knee heals. It's imperative that I not bend the leg at all, so as not to break either of the two layers of stitches it has. Enjoy the photos! The first one is of the laceration and that's where the metal teeth of the bridge I fell on cut through my leg like butter. You can see all the way down to the joint capsule, so that would be considered "down to the bone." But it is completely intact. It is a miracle, truly a miracle, that it was just the skin that got ripped away and that I have no other soft tissue damage or structural damage to my knee or any other part of myself. I just have superficial bruising on the rest of me and I will heal up and move forward in gratitude. @jels_rodriguez thank you for taking the most wonderful care of me even when I'm resistant. Please give me besos forever. @kimlienkendall, you were right and I'm listening to you. Got to respect my body. Thank you for bringing me treats when it happened. To everyone who has been texting and calling and offering support I really appreciate it. I feel your love 💖 Thank you! #cyclinginnyc   #feelingblessed   #protectedandloved   #healing   #kneestitches   #kneelaceration

MEET | JAMIE CREEL + MARCO SCARANI Featured 7.8-7.14.19 | While the rest of us peck away at our keyboards, priding ourselves on all the cool things we’ve ‘collected’ on our @pinterest boards, a couple of intrepid explorers are venturing out over land and sea (IRL) in search of actual treasures to add to their modern-day cabinet of curiosities. A mounted lobster claw, a Nigerian headdress and a guillotine cigar cutter are among the myriad treasures and oddities you’ll find at Creel and Gow, the jewel of a boutique on the Upper East Side of New York City run by owner @creelandgow and his partner in work and in life, @marcoscarani, who travel the world to source unusual, one-of-a-kind objects for their magical emporium. Here’s the deal: Jamie, an avid traveler and collector, and Marco, a former fashion exec at @givenchyofficial and @emanuelungaroparis, met in Paris over 20 years ago (that’s 150 in gay years, according to Jamie) and the chemistry couldn’t be ignored — in life and in work. Today the dashing duo (because they are) divide their time between Manhattan, Paris and Tangier, and while it would be easy to hate them for their seemingly charmed life, they make it virtually impossible. In fact you’d be hard-pressed to meet two more genuinely down-to-earth guys who also happen to be stylish, fun and terribly, terribly charming — so charming, in fact, that you can’t help but want to be a permanent fixture in their glamorous lives (but no, they’re not looking to adopt an adult human, we asked.) When they’re not working side by side at Creel and Gow, they’re hiking the Camino de Santiago, hosting elaborate dinner parties in Tangier or scouring the antique markets of Paris. They’ve done it all, they’ve seen it all and lucky for us, they’re sharing it all. They’re also sharing their randomacts: @americanschooloftangier, @museumofcityny + @port_tonic_art_center Welcome to Jamie and Marco’s week. #mondaymotivation   #mondaySELECT   #onepersonsevendays   #creelandgow   #theselectguest   #theselect7   linkinbio // 📸 by @daphneyoureephotography for @theselect7 //

Cycling was a craze that took over New York City in the late 1800s, transforming some places into heavy bicycle zones, like along Riverside Drive. Going for an evening ride was a chance to socialize and show off, and so New Yorkers adopted this newfound hobby in droves. CENTRAL PARK 🚲🚲🚲 Repost @museumofcityny with @get_repost ・・・ Bicyclists weren't always welcome in Central Park. Velocipedes, an early form of bicycle, began appearing in Central Park in the late 1860s, but they were soon banned because they were seen as a menace to pedestrians and carriage drivers and an unwelcome disturbance of nature. Cyclists fought back and in 1883 earned the right to ride in Central and Prospect Parks as long as they got licenses from the Parks Department. Then, fast forward 54 years, and cyclists are getting their own lanes in Central Park! New York City Parks Commissioner Robert Moses, best known as a champion of the automobile, actually had areas of the park resurfaced and lines painted on the drive west of Central Park's mall to separate bicyclists and roller skaters, making the park more bike-friendly. 🚲 🌳 🚲 Learn more about the evolution of bicycling in NYC in CyclinginNYC, now on view. @museumofcityny bikenyc __ 📷: Central Park Bicyclists, Courtesy of NYC Parks Photo Archive. @nycparks
